Casuals 1sts went on their longest away trip, and turned in a superb performance.
Although fielding a changed side it did not seem to daunt them, as they started off in great fashion.
12 minutes in Casuals strung together a crossfield move and scrum half Adam Riley went round the defence on the right wing to touch down, James Wood converting.
Unfortunately just a few minutes later Grimsby stole the put in at the scrum, and they levelled the score.
Grimsby kept attacking, living off Casuals’ mistakes, and crossed for a 2nd try, which they failed to convert, leaving a ½ time score of 12 – 7.
Casuals started the 2nd half in total control, but were prone to making too many mistakes again. They were undaunted by this, and it was just a matter of time before they added to their score,.
Casuals were awarded a scrum 5, from which they developed a maul, which gave Joey Dolan the platform to sneak over, and Wood converted again.
With their noses in front, Casuals never looked back, pinning the hosts back in their half, and Grimsby simply could not make any progress. It was one of those afternoons that due to the rain, the ball was slippy, so cohesive movements were thwarted.
The set pieces were beginning to work well, with the usual great possession from the lineout, and more settled ball from the scrums.
Eventually Casuals put together a move, which they turned into points.

Anyway it lead to a converted try.
Grimsby had visibly tired defending their line, and they became encamped in their 22, so relentless were Casuals.
With time slipping away, it looked as if Casuals might not get the bonus point, but Grimsby very obligingly spilled the ball inside their 22, and Dan Clarke seized the opportunity, kicking it down the left wing, and grabbing the try.
Wood again converted from near the touchline (this is a big pitch) so a superb effort.
